Our good friend and client’s Porsche Cayenne had the rear window smashed during a break-in. These incidents are common, but the skill to replace these windows requires a decent amount of experience as other parts need to be removed to gain enough access to install a rear window. The rear spoiler and wiper must be removed, and as you can see there is a dash cam that also has to be removed and reinstalled.

We also have to make sure that all the glass fragments from the damage are properly cleaned up and disposed so that our clients won’t get injured by the damage. This includes removing the interior trim as fragments may have gotten into various crevasses on the tailgate.
This sort of claim would be covered under comprehensive coverage with ICBC, typically at a $300 or $500 deductible. If you have a $300 comprehensive deductible, the rear window would still cost a $300 deductible, unlike front windshields which are reduced to just $200 (as per ICBC Autoplan Optional Policy – Division 5, Section 5.1).
